I was listening to Kings of Leon the other day and in one song, just before the guitar solo (remember those?) the singer yells "Guitar! Go get her!". He manages to make "guitar" and "get her" rhyme. Beautiful. It got me to thinking of great pre-solo shouts. I thought I'd just open this up. So what are the best pre-solo phrases? Tell us the song and the shout. Let the debate begin.
-The first thing that came to mind was the Beatles tunes that Ringo sang. I'll have to let someone else pick the best but doesn't he always go "Take it, George" or something along those line? He says is so gallantly, so politely.
ReplyDelete-Leading into Bob Stinson's blazing solo in "I Hate Music", Westerberg repeats the first verse lyrics "Tommy said so, Tommy said so-oh..." but instead of finishing with "so what!" he says "sooooo Bobby!!!!" Pretty good.
-I can't not mention "CC, pick up that guitar and...talk to me!" from Poison's "Talk Dirty to Me". CC responded with a truly great rock and roll guitar solo.
-How long can we keep this one going? I know this was a ploy to beat the "most comments - single post" record. Let's do it!
I posted that comment so quickly, it's full of type-o's!
ReplyDeleteShould read "along those lines" and "He says IT so gallantly..."
Yes, it is a ploy. And a great one! Look, already at three comments!
ReplyDeleteGood nominees. I was trying to remember one and I finally did. I don't remember the song though. It's Jerry Jerry and he says "Do some damage boys". Always thought that was cool. Like he was sending his goons to beat up your ears.
Another funny one is a another Beatle one....It's on 'If You Got Trouble', an unreleased number that was NOT a hidden gem. Pretty bad performance
ReplyDeleteof mediocre song. Anyways, Ringo's singing it and just before a sub-par
solo by George, he screams..''aahahah Rock on anybody....'
Of course, I know millions more, but I ain't blowing my load if this is
some kind of contest...
I remember Ringo said : " Take it George, one time for Ringo."
